FINNAIR LAUNCHES POLISH LANGUAGE ONLINE BOOKING AND WEBSITE

(Warsaw 13.10.2009) Finnair passengers can now book their flights via the Internet also in Polish language. The growing popularity of online bookings and Finnair’s expansion between Asia and Europe has created a need to serve passengers in a wider range of languages in different market places.

Finnair has formally launched a Polish language website to compliment its websites in English, Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, German, Italian, French, Russian, Spanish, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. These websites enable Finnair to serve half of the world’s global customers in their own language.

“Our fast and convenient routes between Europe and Asia have been well received also by Polish passengers and the launch of the Polish language website enables us to serve them even better”, says Juhani Nuoramo, Finnair’s Sales Director for Poland.

Finnair is one of the few airlines that were deemed by the European Union to have met all requirements concerning passenger rights on their Internet websites.

”Also our Polish customers booking flights on the Finnair website can be assured that their rights as consumers are safeguarded”, says Nuoramo. “On our Internet sites, taxes and fees are included in ticket prices and terms and conditions of the tickets are clearly stated. It is also clearly stated which flights are nonstop services.”

The Internet is becoming an increasingly important channel for flight ticket sales. Finnair sells approximately one fifth of its flight tickets online. Last year Internet sales grew by 20 percent. “We expect that by 2010 one third of all our flight tickets will be sold over the Internet”, Nuoramo concludes.
