COMPARISON SHOWS FINNAIR FASTEST FROM EUROPE TO ASIA
(Warsaw 1.12.2009) A comparison between 333 route pairs between Europe and Asia shows that Finnair has 41.3 % of the fastest connections. From Warsaw Finnair currently has the fastest connection to Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya and Seoul. Flying from Warsaw to Beijing, only via Moscow forms a slightly faster option.
Using Amadeus W2009/2010 as a source, the comparison paired up 37 European cities such as Barcelona, Berlin, Frankfurt, Geneva, Zurich, Madrid, Paris, London and Warsaw with 9 Asian destinations: Delhi, Bangkok, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Seoul, Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya.
Out of the different route pairings between these destinations Finnair had a whopping 41.3 % of the fastest connections. The airline that came second in this comparison had 15.2 % and the third 5.3 % of the fastest connections.
“The comparison tells that we do indeed offer by far the largest number of fastest connections between Europe and Asia. When we add to this our competitive pricing and the new and fuel efficient Airbus A-330 aircraft that we fly on our long haul routes, we are well equipped to continue growing our Asian traffic”, says Juhani Nuoramo, Finnair’s Sales Director for Poland.
“Despite of the difficult situation on the market, numbers for the first 9 months of this year show that amount of Finnair passengers from Warsaw to for example Bangkok and Seoul grew by 108.4 % and by 47.8 % respectively compared to the corresponding period last year”, Mr. Nuoramo continues. “In light of the most recent traffic numbers, I believe the bottom in Polish air travel has been reached and that we have reason to be moderately optimistic about the market recovering further in the coming months.”
Finnair is today the third largest European airline in flight traffic between Europe and North East Asia. Last year close to 1.4 million passengers chose to fly Finnair between Europe and Asia.
