The real Santa Claus from Lapland in Poland

(Warsaw 2.12.2013) The nicest person from Finland, Santa Claus, will arrive in Poland today. He will visit several Polish cities during the week, such as Warsaw, Czestochowa, Wroclaw and Zabrze. The universally adored Santa arrives in Poland by the kind invitation of the Embassy of Finland, with the support of two Finnish companies, Finnair and Fortum and in cooperation with the Warsaw Chopin Airport.

Santa Claus will land in the morning at the Warsaw Chopin Airport, where he will be greeted and welcomed by Polish children and the representative of the Embassy of Finland.

„Santa Claus will come to Poland straight from Rovaniemi, at the Polar Circle in Finland, to bring Christmas greetings and warmth to Polish children. Many of them have been waiting for this visit the whole year. Santa Claus is a very important person in the Finnish tradition. I am happy that we, together with Finnair and Fortum, have been able to bring him again to Poland” – says Jari Vilén,  Ambassador of Finland in Poland.

From the airport Santa Claus will go straight to Czestochowa, in order to meet young residents of the city and to give his best wishes to the child patients of a local hospital. On December 3rd Santa will arrive in Zabrze, where he will visit children in local kindergartens. During Mikolajki, the popular Santa Claus’ Day on December 6th, he will  visit Wroclaw. There he will together with city authorities light up the candles of the Christmas tree in the Main Square, greeting hundreds of attending residents. On  December 7th Santa Claus will  return to Warsaw in order to take part in the annual ceremony of lighting up the lights of the Christmas tree in the Castle Square.

Santa Claus lives in Rovaniemi, Finnish Lapland. Santa Claus’ village, located on the Arctic Circle, is visited annually by ca. half a million guests.
