Finnair adds frequencies to Tokyo and Hong Kong with Airbus A350 in summer 2017

(Warsaw 13.10.2016) Continuing to grow its Asian traffic, next summer season Finnair will supplement its daily service to Tokyo with four additional frequencies per week and the daily service to Hong Kong with three additional weekly flights.

Finnair will add four weekly fights to Tokyo between June 5 and October 27. The additional flights will be operated with Airbus A350 aircraft, and as a joint business operation with Japan Airlines, British Airways and Iberia.

With the additions, Finnair and its partner Japan Airlines will offer 18 weekly connections between Helsinki and Tokyo’s Narita Airport. Finnair also flies to Osaka, Nagoya and Fukuoka during the summer season 2017, with a total of 35 weekly flights to Japan.

Number of Finnair flights to Hong Kong will also be increased, with three additional weekly frequencies between June 6 and October 28. Currently the carrierflies to Hong Kong daily, departing both Helsinki and Hong Kong around midnight. With the new frequencies, Finnair will operate 10 weekly flights and offer customers the added option of an afternoon flight from Helsinki and a morning flight from Hong Kong. All of Finnair's Hong Kong flights are operated with the Airbus A350.

“With increased capacity and frequencies to Tokyo and Hong Kong, we are tapping into the growing traffic between Europe and Asia and increasing our presence in cities that have been popular with our customers in recent years,” says Arunas Skuja, Finnair's General Manager for Eastern Europe and Baltic states. “We received our first Airbus A350 one year ago and have now seven of them  operating in our network. We expect four more deliveries next year and by the end of 2023 we will have one of the most modern long-haul fleets in the industry, with 19 A350 aircraft.”

Finnair will continue next summer with its seasonal route to Guangzhou, with four weekly frequencies operated with A330 aircraft. Finnair’s route to Guangzhou opened in 2016 and it is Finnair's fifth destination in mainland China.
