Finnair Plus becomes most rewarding frequent flyer program in the Nordic region

(Warsaw 13.6.2018) Finnair has announced changes in its Finnair Plus frequent flyer program, with over 3 million members internationally. The changes, combined with the updates made earlier this year, make Finnair Plus the most competitive reward program in the region.

Finnair has lowered all Finnair flight award prices as of June 4, making the most wanted rewards more accessible for all members.

  • Points needed for an economy class award flight within the Nordic region: 15 000 compared to the previous 20 000 points;
  • Points needed for economy class flight to rest of Europe, Dubai and TelAviv: 30 000  compared to previous 40 000 points
  • Points needed for economy class flight to Asia or North America: 90 000 compared to the previous 125 000 points.

The award prices are the same for all members, including Junior members.

Also the Finnair Plus Junior membership has been revamped, with new ways to reward the youngest frequent travelers. From June onwards, all members are recognized as tier members regardless of their age, and they are entitled to the same tier benefits.

Earlier this year Finnair made changes to its point expiry policy so that points do not expire as long as the customer keeps on earning or using points at least once every 18 months. This is a change from previous policy where points expired 36 months after they were earned, regardless of member’s activity.

”The renewal is based on our customers’ wishes and it makes the Finnair Plus even more interesting and a very competitive airline frequent flyer program when compared internationally,” says Johanna Jäkälä, head of Marketing, Brand and Loyalty at Finnair. "Finnair Plus offers members a vast selection of benefits, services, interesting events and partnerships from which our customers can choose the most suitable way for them to use points."

Finnair has also introduced a new tier, Finnair Plus Platinum Lumo, designed for the most frequently traveling customers. Finnair Plus Platinum Lumo benefits focus on highest level of service and flexibility when travelling and exclusive early access to new services. To earn Platinum Lumo members need to earn 450 000 tier points or fly 150 times in their membership year.

In the near future Finnair will be introducing a Family and Friends program, to make it easier for families and friends to pool points together and track their progress towards their targeted award.
