FINNCOMM AIRLINES TAKES OFF FROM GDANKS TO HELSINKI

(Gdansk 28.3.2011) Finncomm Airlines' maiden flight from Gdansk to Helsinki took off today from the Gdansk-Lech Wałęsa airport. The new Gdansk-Helsinki route is served around the year on a daily basis, in cooperation with the Finnish flag carrier Finnair.  Gdansk is the seventh destination in Europe operated by Finncomm, connecting North of Poland not only with Finland but with Finnair's extensive domestic and international route network.

Finncomm aircraft currently operate 16 domestic destinations and serve in addition to Gdansk also Norrköping in Sweden, Stuttgart, Tallinn, Riga, Vilnius and Bucharest.

“We are extremely pleased to operate flights to the Tri-City region of Gdansk, Gdynia and Sopot, providing both Finnish and international passengers connecting via Helsinki with the opportunity to enjoy this vibrant and beautiful part of Poland, and to do business here”, said Juhani Pakari, Finncomm's CEO when visiting Gdansk in conjunction with the opening flight. “On the same token, for example Finnair's many Asian and Scandinavian destinations are now more conveniently accessible also from the North of Poland.”

Finncomm has cooperated with Finnair since 1998. Thanks to the code sharing cooperation it is possible to issue Finncomm and Finnair flights on the same ticket, enabling checking of passengers' baggage to the final destination.  Flight schedules are coordinated in order to give Finncomm passengers best possible access to the Finnish flag carrier's international route network.

The Gdansk-Helsinki route is served by Finncomm Airline's modern ATR-500 fleet, with  an average age of approximately two years.

“The 500 series represents the most state-of-the -art aviation technology in production. ATR seat width is equivalent to that of a Boeing 737 and passenger comfort in ATR 500 series is well equivalent to  regional jets of similar size”, Pakari stated. “The ATR aircraft are labeled the most fuel efficient in their category, meaning lower emissions and helping to keep ticket prices at a reasonable level”, he concluded.

Departures from Gdansk are on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 11.15 and on Tuesdays, Thursdays. Fridays and Sundays at 18.10. Flights from Helsinki to Gdansk depart on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 09.45 and on other days at 16.40.
