Finnair and Helsinki Airport to introduce speed dating?

(Warsaw 24.11.2011) Seven Quality Hunters recruited by Finnair and Helsinki airport have spent the last five weeks combing the world’s four corners in search of new solutions for an improved air travel experience.  Now Finnair and Helsinki Airport are turning to the public for further ideas, giving everyone the chance to shape the future of international air travel.

The online conversation on the nature of air travel, led by the Quality Hunters, has resulted in numerous suggestions for improving quality and service, and thousands of comments have already been submitted by the public.

”Vegetarian flights, in-flight karaoke, virtual chess games and airport speed dating are just a few of the improvement ideas we have received, and are all under consideration”, says Johanna Metsälä, Helsinki Airport Customer Experience Manager.

Finnair and Helsinki Airport are committed to implementing the most feasible and outstanding ideas and are actively encouraging creativity by offering prizes for the most innovative submissions for improving their service. Both companies emphasize that the initiative is open to all air travellers willing to share their ideas and see concrete changes in the nature of air travel.

“Our aim is to make air travel as convenient and pleasurable as possible by actually changing things. We are inviting people to share their innovative ideas and encourage out-of-the-box thinking and active discussion,” says says Antti Nieminen, Marketing Innovations Director at Finnair.

Development ideas can be submitted, rated and commented at www.qualityhunters2.com until November 29.  Helsinki Airport and Finnair will then narrow the list down to the most potential submissions and the winning idea will be chosen by a public vote that ends on December 11.

An eight Quality Hunter joined the original seven on November 23 as they began their final week of travel. He is Arjan Tupan, a 38-year-old Dutch entrepreneur residing in Latvia. He was selected by the original Quality Hunters for his active participation on Quality Hunters' blog and other social media.
