The real Santa Claus from Lapland arrives in Poland

(Warsaw 2.12.2014) The nicest person from Finland, Santa Claus, has arrived in Poland. He will visit several Polish cities during his stay, such as Warsaw, Częstochowa, Wrocław, Zabrze, Białystok, Niepołomice, Olsztyn, Poznań, Konin, Szczecin and Toruń. The universally adored Santa visits Poland by the kind invitation of the Embassy of Finland, with the support of Finnish companies such as Finnair and in cooperation with the Warsaw Chopin Airport.

Santa Claus landed in the morning of December 2nd at the Warsaw Chopin Airport, where he was greeted and welcomed by Polish children and the Finnish Ambassador to Poland.

“Santa Claus comes to Poland straight from Rovaniemi, at the Polar Circle in Finland, to bring Christmas greetings and warmth to Polish children. Many of them have been waiting for this visit the whole year. Santa Claus is a very important person in the Finnish tradition. I am happy that we, together with Finnair, have been able to bring him again to Poland,” says Hanna Lehtinen, Ambassador of Finland in Poland.

Between December 3rd and 5th Santa Claus will visit Częstochowa, Zabrze and Wrocław. During "mikołajki", the popular Santa Claus’ Day on December 6th, he will be in Warsaw among other to open the Christmas Market at the National Stadium and to light up the candles of the Christmas tree in the Castle Square, greeting children and other attending residents. From Warsaw Santa Claus' visit will continue over the next few days to Białystok, Niepołomice, Olsztyn, Poznań, Konin, Szczecin and Toruń.

Santa Claus lives in Rovaniemi, Finnish Lapland. Santa Claus’ village, located on the Arctic Circle, is visited annually by ca. half a million guests.
